Soymilk Maker

I have been researching for the best soymilk maker. I finally found what I am looking for. As usually, the product cannot be obtained in Australia. What the ?

Anyway, I decided to go ahead to make a purchase of this Soyapower Plus Milk Maker. The reasons for me to get one is that eating cereals with soymilk is best alternative, after becoming a vegan. Most soymilk in the supermarket shelves contain some sort of oil and that is off putting because they are not necessarily using the best oil. I like my oil to be from olive plants as they are the healthiest.

The soymilk in the supermarkets are quite expensive as well especially the organic versions which I normally purchase. Another compelling reason is that I do not know how they process their soy milk. Soy beans need proper processing to ensure safe consumption on a long term basis.

It has been known that soy beans are rich in enzyme inhibitors. These enzymes eill block the works
of trypsin and other enzymes which are needed for protein digestion.
Not all enzymes in the soy bean could be deactivated during the regular
cooking process and it can cause severe gastric distress, reduced
protein digestion and chronic deficiencies in amino acid intake.

Enzyme inhibitors in soy beans concentrate in the soaking liquid. It is advisable then to soak the beans before making the milk, preferably in the alkaline solutions such as apple cider vinegar, then cooked in high temperature.

Another thing with the soymilk maker is that they could be used to cook other nuts/beans as well. The Soya Power Plus I bought have the following features with stainless steel canister and easy cleaning on top of my desired feature:

  • 600 watts
  • Weight: 6 pounds 0 ounces
  • Height: 11 1/4 inches high with handle in the down position, 13 3/4 inches with handle in up position
  • Canister (inner): Stainless steel with pouring spout
  • Canister (outer): Plastic cover with side handle
  • Filter basket: Stainless steel mesh approximately 3 1/4 inches in diameter
  • Machine head outer: Plastic with electronic controls, feeding
window and plunger, retractable top handle; plastic and metal latches
  • Machine head components in contact with the liquid: Stainless steel
  • 4 steel grinding blades
  • Yield: 6 cups liquid
  • Plastic drip pan
  • Safety shut-off switch
  • U.L. Certified

Advantages of this unit given by one of the reviewers are:

  1. Materials that come in contact with the beverages are quality stainless steel.
  2. Filter basket mesh is finely woven, and it effectively filters the
fibers from the liquid, eliminating the need for additional straining,
    unless desired.
  3. Larger size filter basket, larger than other models, easier for loading and cleaning.
  4. Stainless steel canister has pouring spout and a rolled top, making pouring less messy.
  5. The stainless steel canister’s one-piece construction prevents the
soymilk from dripping in between the layer of plastic and steel.
  6. Plastic cover over the stainless steel canister reduces noise and
temperature during operation. Control pad is programmable for custom
    cycles and additional function options.
  7. Feeding window is an option for adding beans/grains.
  8. Cycle length is fast — approximately 16 -18 minutes.
  9. Includes an added safety shut-off switch.
  10. Plastic drip pan included to stand machine head when not in use;
very helpful when removing machine head from the canister when hot.
  11. 4 grinding blades, compared to 2 blades on other models.
  12. Detailed user manual and free recipe book.

I am looking forward to try the soymilk maker soon.
